Imran's Journey at Infosys: A Story of Dedication, Loss, Learning and Growth
Imran began his career at Infosys in October 2018, stepping into the role of a Senior Systems Engineer. Based out of the North Sydney office, he quickly became an integral part of the IT team, known for his problem-solving skills, dedication, and technical expertise. From the outset, Imran was passionate about his work, consistently going above and beyond to ensure the smooth functioning of the IT infrastructure for over 3,000 employees.

Imran's Role and Contributions
Imran’s primary responsibilities involved managing hardware and software configurations, conducting employee inductions, ensuring workstations were compliant, and maintaining high compliance scores. He was instrumental in creating documentation and posters that boosted productivity across the office. His efforts were appreciated not only by his immediate team but also by the wider workforce at Infosys. Whether through phone, Microsoft Teams, or in-person interactions, Imran made himself readily available to assist his colleagues, making their workdays smoother and more efficient.
When the North Sydney office relocated from 77 Pacific Hwy to 100 Arthur St, Imran played a key role in the transition, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Even during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Imran’s dedication never wavered. He continued to support the IT infrastructure, providing remote assistance and handling requests within the given SLA, all while dealing with the challenges of the pandemic. His steadfast commitment, even when working from home, made him a reliable pillar for the Sydney office.

The Turning Point
However, 2020 brought unforeseen challenges for Imran. When vaccination recommendations were made for employees, Imran, assuming he was in good health, decided against getting vaccinated but didn’t disclose this to Infosys. This miscommunication eventually led to difficulties when he was unable to produce a vaccination certificate. Despite continuing to excel at his role from home, a conflict arose when it was discovered that Imran had moved to Queensland without seeking prior approval from management. This, coupled with communication issues with HR, led to a situation where his employment was ultimately terminated.

A Learning Experience
The loss of his job was a difficult time for Imran, especially as he was dealing with severe health challenges that left him weak and unable to communicate his situation clearly to HR. While Infosys had been a great place for Imran to grow and flourish, missteps in communication and assumptions about policy led to his departure.
Reflecting on the experience, Imran has learned many important lessons, most notably the value of honesty, transparency, and open communication with employers and HR departments. He realized that reaching out to friends and family for advice during difficult times can provide invaluable support and clarity. Imran deeply regrets not being able to handle the situation better, but he now knows the importance of documenting key conversations and staying engaged with HR processes.

Imran’s Path Forward
Despite the challenges he faced, Imran’s love for IT remains undiminished. He has grown from this experience and is determined to take what he has learned and apply it to his future endeavours. Imran is committed to treating future employers with the utmost sincerity and respect. His work ethic, attention to detail, and collaborative nature have always been his strong suits, and he now pairs those qualities with a deeper understanding of workplace dynamics.
Potential employers can expect from Imran a hardworking, dedicated, and honest team player who is ready to contribute positively to any IT team. He has learned from his past mistakes and is eager for a second chance to prove himself in the industry he loves.

What Imran Has Learned and How He Will Excel Going Forward
Imran now understands the importance of:

Always being truthful and transparent with his employers, especially in sensitive matters.

Open communication with HR, knowing they play a vital role in an organization’s workforce.

Imran is a smart, hard-working individual with a track record of success at Infosys. His termination was not a reflection of his ability but rather a result of miscommunication during a tough period in his life. He hopes to find an employer willing to give him a second chance, confident that he will be an even better employee with the lessons he has learned.
